Wichita/Dodge City comparison |

Salina/Goodland comparison |
I can hardly wrap my mind around the fact it's DECEMBER and it's the start of meteorological winter (Dec. 1 - Feb. 28)!!! November just flew by and now the Christmas rush is on for many of us. If I had to make a wish list, one of the top items would be some moisture. We've just wrapped up a very dry fall for most of the state and winter is a dry time around here anyway, so the need will likely keep growing. I've selected 4 cities around the state to track the moisture and only one comes up with above normal numbers (Dodge City). Wichita is experiencing one of the largest deficits of the year, but fortunately it comes at a time when water demand is very low.

Now - Thursday afternoon |
While our outlook for rainfall around here isn't promising, California is about to get some widespread, soaking moisture. Forecast models are calling for most of the state to get rain, and locally heavy for some. There will be a steady on-shore flow of moisture the next few days, so this will hopefully ease some of the drought (it definitely won't wipe it out completely)

Weather pattern looking ahead |
The weather pattern around Kansas is going to be fairly flat this week. What does that mean? Well basically, there won't be any big storms coming our way for awhile. There will be a couple of days where some moisture may show up, but it's unlikely to be anything significant.
Thursday A.M. - some drizzle for central and eastern Kansas
Friday - scattered showers to the southeast of the Turnpike
Sunday - spotty rain showers just about anywhere in Kansas
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. While it may be hard getting back to work today, most of us have a Christmas break that isn't too far off. Have a good Monday.
