Chances for severe storms will increase this week:
We are watching a fairly large storm system that will be coming from southern California during the middle of the week. This storm dumped several inches of snow on Big Bear Mountain Resort Sunday afternoon. It's slow to move, but it's the one that will arrive in the Plains by Wednesday/Thursday.

Today:
A few severe storms may skirt northwest Kansas into the late evening hours (mostly likely after 8 or 9 p.m.). Most of what develops will move to the northeast.
Tuesday:
Best chances for storms will be focused across the west and in northern Kansas. A severe storm or two is possible with some hail and wind, but heavy rainfall might be a bigger concern in areas that still have a lot of standing water.
Wednesday:
WEDNESDAY THREAT! |
This is the one day this week where the best chances for severe weather will setup over Kansas and surrounding areas. We don't expect an outbreak of severe storms, but some hail, an isolated tornado, AND very heavy rains might create some concerns of their own. We still have so many areas with standing water that another 1-2 inches of heavy rain could create some problems.
Stick with us this week as we transition back to a brief period of stormy weather. It looks like it will push out of here before we get to Mother's Day weekend. The pressure will be on to have a nice weekend then.
