These will probably start in the vicinity of Hays/Russell/Great Bend and move east with time.
The storms that roll through this area will be gradually weakening, but I would anticipate a threat of some strong wind gusts of 60-65 mph.
Best chances will shift east of I-135 and continue moving east into the night. It does appear that after midnight, the severe threat will have ended.
More rain/cooler weather coming:
I'm still expecting a transition to an active pattern in mid-April with more substantial rainfall. Normal rain (just in the middle of the month alone) would be along the lines of .50-1" for most areas in Kansas. We are anticipating a western trough (or low pressure system) to setup in the jet stream that will put the Plains in a position to have a couple of decent rounds of moisture. It is also likely to be accompanied by much cooler weather too. At this time of year, that would translate to highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Another hard freeze? It wouldn't be that unusual, but it's getting late and that chance is still out there with the transition in the pattern the next couple of weeks.
