Severe threat heading into Tuesday evening |
Cold front position around 10:30 Tuesday night |
We do have to watch for some severe storms across central and northern Kansas late in the evening. I'm not expecting a lot of severe weather, but there is a chance for hail and wind with the stronger activity after 4 or 5 p.m. Storms should move east as the evening progress and more activity will likely develop farther south as the night continues. The heaviest rainfall will be over northern Kansas with some amounts over an inch possible.
The front will drop the temperatures back into the 60s and 70s for Wednesday. And it's definitely not going to be the coolest day we will have this week. That's coming Friday.

This huge push of cool air coming south from Canada will bring snow back into the Rockies Thursday. And if this were November or December, I'd say even Kansas would be in the running for some accumulating snow considering how chilly this airmass will be. But snow in September is highly unlikely and it's not going to be that cold around here. Some of you have expressed your excitement for fall on the blog, Facebook, and Twitter, but it's quickly followed up with "I'm not looking forward to winter". Fortunately right now, we don't have to worry about snow and slick roads with this big change coming later in the week.
