Fast moving Wednesday storm

A viewer shared this picture with me yesterday after the groundhog's prediction of 6 more weeks of winter. It was so cloudy in Punxsutawney, PA that I'm not sure how he saw his shadow. Must be all of the lights coming off the media stationed around the area.

We are still on track to see some light snow for Wednesday. It's such a fast moving event that most of the area won't see much in the way of accumulating snow, but some isolated 1 inch amounts look possible, especially north and east of Salina. So many teachers and even students have been begging for a snow day, but this isn't going to get the job done.

It still looks much warmer toward the end of the week with near record highs possible by Saturday. The 70s in February are picking up where January left off.

If you missed our 5 p.m. broadcast yesterday, we had video of a giant dust devil out of Brazil. Keep in mind, it is summer in the southern hemisphere. In order to get one of these to form, you need some strong surface heating and just the right shift in wind, and they can grow into something that looks exactly like a tornado. They rarely do anything more than knock some trash cans over and stir up some dust. This one actually did a little damage to some rooftops, but in most cases, they are not very dangerous and just cool to watch.
