We are gearing up for the next round of stormy weather that will hit Kansas (Wednesday) and this should be the last of it for this week. But let's get right to the areas that will see storms.
The setup:
The same front that fired off storms Tuesday afternoon will be at it again today. The high humidity over central and eastern Kansas will help to fuel the storms too. Very large hail (up to tennis ball or even baseball size) will be possible as the storms begin to mature. Once storms get going, they will move northeast and the entire complex will gradually shift east through time.
Timing:
We should see storms begin around 12 or 1 near Dodge City. The storms will develop and multiply as they track northeast.
By 3-5 p.m. storms will be spreading through central Kansas with large hail likely. An isolated tornado is possible.
By 5-7 p.m. We will see a big batch of storms across central Kansas. Very large hail, some strong wind, and still the chance of a tornado will exist throughout this area.
Closer to 10 p.m. storms will be strongest across eastern Kansas (and especially up near the KC area) with strong winds very likely. The front will be pushing back to the north and heading into the overnight, we should see the storms calming down and moving out of the area.
Severe threat should shift east of our area by Thursday. After a couple of rough days, I think we will appreciate some calmer weather.
