Just settling back in from a week out of town and one thing that didn't change while I was gone - the wet storm track for Kansas. And the month of April is looking to have above normal precipitation for much of the Plains.
First storm chance: Wednesday night
Our first storm chance of the week shows up Wednesday evening and into the overnight. This is VERY unlikely to be severe weather, and it's probably not going to be widespread. Chances are going to be highest over south central Kansas. Amounts of .25-.50" look possible, but remember, not everyone will get that much rain.
Weekend rain chances:
This weekend will have another cold front and low pressure system coming through the Plains. Some showers should develop in central and eastern Kansas Saturday evening, while western Kansas may begin to see some rain Sunday morning. This will be another round of some scattered storms, but severe chances look very low once again.
A cold front sweeping east into Sunday will bring more scattered storm chances into the second half of the weekend.
We are also noticing the computer models hinting at a storm developing and pushing into the area next week. So all of this active weather equates to one thing - more rain! You can look at the sequence of the images below to see what the long range setup looks like for possible rain amounts as we move deeper into April. Bottom line is that we think the spring rain chances will continue for many areas.
