Happy New Year - a storm to watch

Welcome to 2018! Hope everyone had a great holiday season. As we get back into our normal routines, the temperatures will start going back up, but we are likely to stay BELOW normal for the next few weeks. It's probably not going to be AS cold as what we've already experienced, but there will still be several days with highs in the 20s/30s still to come.

December Stats:

  • Garden City - tied DRIEST
  • Wichita - tied 2nd DRIEST
  • Dodge City - tied 2nd DRIEST
  • Salina - tied 4th DRIEST
Next storm to watch:
We've gone months now without any good, quality moisture in Kansas. The storms that have been impacting Kansas have been moving in from the west or northwest, which isn't a good setup to break this dry spell.

The next storm to approach our area comes this weekend. But if you take a look at the path it's on, this doesn't look good. Right now, we are expecting it to move straight in from the west, cross over the Rockies, then into the central Plains. If this path holds up, almost all of the quality moisture will go east of us. Chances for snow will setup in Nebraska, with rain in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. So let's watch this throughout the week and I'll have updates on the air and here on the blog as we get closer in time.
