More ice still to come

Hopefully everyone is safe out there while we deal with this latest icy setup. We still have a little ways to go before conditions get turned around and we get back to some calmer weather.

Concerns for ice accumulations Wed. night/early Thursday:
Another wave of moisture will be coming up from the southwest and will move through an area that won't be cold enough for snow. So I'm thinking some areas will get freezing rain and sleet before seeing a few snowflakes.

11 p.m. Future Track:
I've highlighted areas that I think have the best chance of catching some ice accumulation. It most likely won't be heavy enough for widespread power outages, I do think we could see some ice buildup (even more than we've seen the last two days) - and with increasing winds Thursday morning, power disruptions aren't out of the question.

2:00 a.m. Thursday:
The icy concerns continue for south central Kansas while farther west and north, it will be light snow. Our Future Track is showing ice accumulations up to .2" in spots.

Snowfall forecast:
There will not be a huge amounts of snow with this storm. It's tracking too far north and the heaviest snowfall (only 1-2") should end up in northern Kansas.

Dangerous wind chills:
Thursday morning will have wind chills down to -5 to -15. Remember, the closer we get to -15, the more likely we start getting into frostbite territory. So aside from the concerns for ice and snow, we will have to be mindful of the very low wind chills & wind.

Next storm early next week:
That's right. Part of an active weather pattern, we see another storm rolling in Monday which will have chances for light rain and some snow. It's too early to speculate how much snow, but the models are not overly aggressive in producing significant snowfall. We will continue to watch it and post updates as we get closer.
