You will want to prepare for this next week

Next week could be a little wild across the Plains. And you'll want to be prepared for major WIND Wednesday! I know we expect it in Kansas, but when we start seeing gusts above 50 (away from thunderstorms), we start to raise the red flag.

A STRONG low pressure will come right through the Plains, which could produce wind gusts that you see below:

In addition, we are going to be very close to a rain/snow mix across northern Kansas heading into Wednesday night. Areas north of us will have accumulation (of SNOW!!), so that should give you some idea of the air that will be flowing into Kansas toward the end of the week. It's going to be chilly, but a cold snap this time of the year will be very different than a month or two ago.

I think it's inevitable that some areas in western Kansas will have another hard freeze at the end of next week. And we might flirt with frost in central Kansas too by Friday morning. So there will be several things to watch as the next storm passes through. The image below is what forecast models are suggesting for possible lows next Friday morning. We will update you as we get closer.
