Signs of a late week storm

Thanks for spending a few minutes reading the blog. From what I can tell in reading comments both on Facebook and Twitter, there are mixed feelings about the warm weather right now. I'd love to take a poll and find out who still wants cold/snow and who wants spring. If you still want snow, don't feel like you are the only one.

BIG western storm about to hit:
This is a very large storm and should dump at least a couple inches of rain on parts of the west coast. The Cascades will get heavy snows as the moisture just continues to flow into the area.

We will watch the progress of the system because a piece of it will break off and become the storm Kansas sees at the end of the week. It definitely WON'T be as large or as powerful by the time it reaches the Plains.

What to expect:

As I pointed out yesterday, there is just so little cold air to be found anywhere nearby, so early thoughts on Fridays storm would suggest most of the precipitation will be rain. It could get just cold enough Saturday for a few snow flurries around the area, but confidence is HIGH that nobody will have snow to shovel this weekend. Kansas will be sideswiped by the storm too, so the majority of the rainfall will go southeast of our area (probably not a bad thing because so much our state is still fairly wet)

Chiefs forecast:

Thinking about going to the game? The weather looks less than desirable Saturday morning with a chance for some drizzle or flurries. However, conditions should improve a bit for Saturday afternoon during the game with skies just mainly cloudy. It will be cold with 30s during the game, but as anyone will point out... it could be so much colder. And considering its January, 30s shouldn't look unbearable.
