Very active week - some strange weather ahead

I love Kansas weather in the fall. This is such a dynamic time of year. Our weather starts to get energized by the differences in temperature, strengthening jet stream, and the changing seasons. It's my favorite time of year to study the atmosphere (yes, even more so that springtime severe weather setups)

Just look at what will happen today at about 3 p.m. We could easily see a 20-25 degree difference in temperature from location A to location B (separated by maybe 30-40 miles). Farther north, look for 60s and in the south, it's another 80 degree day.

Tropical Storm Rosa:

Making landfall today down in Baja, California. The leftovers will continue to move northeast, and while Rosa won't be soaking our area with rain, some of the energy in the atmosphere comes over us Wednesday. It could help to spark a few showers and storms late Wednesday night.

Wednesday Night:

Best chances should setup east of a Russell to Great Bend to Medicine Lodge line. They will be scattered, so it's not a soaking event for all and many areas will be missed.

Another front late in the week:

There's going to be another interesting temperature setup toward the end of the week. A variety of temperatures expected Thursday and Friday. Once again, from summerlike 80s in the south to 60s in the north. It will be weird. Highest storm chances will be coming Friday night and into early Saturday. This should drop rain in many areas of Kansas.

AND...
A very large storm begins to take shape next weekend (Oct. 6-7) This will be one that drags in a tremendous amount of Gulf moisture, so soaking, widespread rains seem likely by Sunday/Monday. And on the colder side of the storm, accumulation of snow looks to return to Colorado, Wyoming, and perhaps even on the Plains of South Dakota and western Nebraska. This system will impact a HUGE area of real estate and one I'll keep you updated on throughout the week.

So many changes happening this week. Should be interesting to follow.
