Rainfall totals & getting closer to frost

The rain just keeps coming for some parts of Kansas, but still parts of the state need more. Here's a look at some of the 24 hours amounts (through 7 a.m. Thursday)

Medicine Lodge: 1.40"
Jabara Airport (Wichita): 1.33"
Eisenhower Airport (Wichita): 1.31"
Winfield: 1.25"
Pratt: 0.20"
Newton: 0.18"
Hutchinson: 0.04"
Dodge City: 0.04"
Russell: 0.02"

Drying out later today (Thursday)
This slow moving front that created the heavier rain is beginning to wash out and the rains will dry up for south central Kansas.

Friday:
We are expecting a cloudy day for most of the state. Some rain is possible, but this will be more isolated (spotty) and many of you will likely be missed. Rain that does fall Friday will not be that heavy.

Saturday - cold front is coming!
This rain chance has it's target set on areas along and east of I-135. We feel confident that there WILL be storms, but they will move east rather quickly, limiting the overall amounts of rain.

Potential frost for some next week?

We are looking out for some frost that may be coming to parts of the Plains next week. It wouldn't be that unusual considering we will be nearing the middle of October, but just a heads up. I'm looking at maybe Thursday or Friday morning to have some lows in the 30s across central and northern Kansas. We will be tracking this closely, so be looking for updates on air and right here on the blog. Models are showing several spots with 30s.
