One of My Hobbies

Kansas weather keeps me busy most of the time, but I still find time to enjoy other things besides weather. I discovered wood working about 2 years ago and I have completed two big projects and a few smaller ones on the side. Last year, I found some plans for a park bench and decided to make it a Christmas present. This year, I came up with my own design and decided to make a toy box for my new nephew, Wade.

Here are some pictures of the completed project. I don't normally consider myself to be a crafty individual, but this time around, I stumbled on some good ideas and followed through with them, only to be surprised at how good it looked in the end. I used Jute (looks like rope) for the handles on the box, and found some other rope to write his name on the lid. I'm not very good at picking out baby clothes, so I decided to make something instead. It was a really good Christmas and I hope it was for you as well.

Hey Ross,

Glad to see you made it back safe. You have such an array of talents, you never seize to amaze me. Well that is just one more thing you and I have in common, wood-working! I just wish I had more room to do it. The toy box looks great, love the Jute, it was a nice rustic touch! I am sure Wade will grow to appreciate such a great gift as he gets older and to know that Uncle Ross made it will make it all the more special!

Thanks for share! Have a wonderful day!

It was a good Christmas, went to Garden City and drove through Greensburg for the first time since the May 4th tornado. I have to say the pictures that have been shown on TV don't do the damage justice. I am very great full this Holiday season for what I have.

Personal gifts are always the best way to go.

I think the toy boxes look Awesome!! I tried sanging a box like that once- and couldn't even finish!! If you ever go into the business of making them and selling them on the side- I would love to be your first customer!!
Lord knows I could use it in my house!!

Hey Ross, the toy box was wonderful. Wade is so lucky to have such a great uncle! Your work looked very nice!

Just wanted to tell Ty we were sorry about him having bad news at Christmas, but hope the trip to Colorado went ok. We send our sincere condolences.

Ok, time for this purple wildcat to rev up for the big Orange Bowl! And yes, we will be rooting for KU (ouch)! Hope your team wins big Ross!
