Great fair weather... more changes to come!

Millie and I had a very long day at the fair Saturday with several of you coming by to say hello. The weather was about as nice as it could be with temperatures in the 70s. We will be back on the fairgrounds Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Our goal is to be there by 2 each afternoon, but we will have to leave by 7 so we can get back in time for the late newscasts.

There is a lot to cover this week in our weather. The first thing you'll notice today and tomorrow is the warm up and the wind. Gusty south winds of 25-30 mph will carry in some warmer air, but it's not that unusual to bump up into the 90s in the first half of September.

The best chance for storms this week will come Tuesday evening, starting in western and northern Kansas. The activity will likely move east, but I expect more storms to develop into southern Kansas heading into the early morning hours of Wednesday. So we are pretty confident most of the state will get some rain Tuesday night.

Temperatures will cool off significantly by Wednesday and Thursday. A huge pocket of colder air in southern Canada will dislodge and start moving south tomorrow. It doesn't quite get here until later in the week, but when it does, I expect most of you will be hunting for a sweatshirt or jacket. The coolest day this week will likely be Friday when much of the area is stuck under clouds to keep us from warming up.

More to come as we continue through the week....
